Sleep in college is one of the best things, whether that is naps in between class or just trying to get in a full 8 hours before your alarm goes off.
Rest is essential to perform at your best ability physically and mentally. Sleep deprivation can affect many things like your mood, concentration, and thinking skills. Chronic sleep deprivation can have a serious effect on mental and physical health. College students who prioritize sleep are likely to see an improvement in their academic and physical performance.
There are multiple things you can do if you are having trouble sleeping. You can read a book, reading will not only train your brain but you can also relax your mind and body so that you can start feeling tired. You can also dim your lights so that your body knows that you will be going to sleep soon. Only use your bed for sleeping, don't study, read, or watch television in bed. This is another signal to your brain that it is time to go to sleep.
Sleeping in on the weekends is one of the best feelings, but is it necessarily good for your body? The answer is no, it is best for your body to wake up the same time you do during the weekends as you do on the weekdays. This keeps your body on a schedule and eventually you will get used to your wakeup times.
Keeping a schedule is one of the best things to do in college, and you can also schedule when you sleep! I have already written a blog about creating a schedule for college students where you can check out how to make a good schedule that will fit your everyday needs!
