Adjusting to college life can be overwhelming and stressful. Tests and exams can hold a lot of information for you to learn, memorize, study, and ace the exam, well that's how most people would like it to be. It can sometimes be hard to stay focused on multiple classes at once and especially studying for all the different exams it comes with.
Tip 1: Stay Organized. Keep a planner of all dates that need to be set for all your different classes. This will help you stay focused, know every due date, and to stay on task with your work. This will also help you to find a good routine regarding school work. Your planner will allow you to know what days you need to do certain assignments.
Tip 2: Take Good Notes. Trying to stay focused in a two hour or even hour long class can sometimes be difficult. Professors will have lectures including powerpoint and presentations. Take notes on what they have on the board but also the things they say out loud to the class. Most professors will include questions on exams that they verbally discussed, not only on their powerpoint to make sure you are paying attention.
Tip 3: Find a way that you can retain information. There can be so much information that you need to remember for exams and it can get overwhelming flipping through multiple pages of notes. You can make flashcards, quizlet's, powerpoint's, highlight certain information in your notes, and so much more to stay organized with your notes.
Tip 4: Don't Cram. This is where your planner comes into play. Make sure to look at your planner each week and find the time where you can start studying maybe a week before an exam. Cramming, does not allow the brain to properly retain information the night before an exam. The reasoning behind this is because your brain is already focusing on being overwhelmed and stressed and this makes it forget simple information.
